Irmgard Mkhabela presented a shape contrasting collection which referenced a push/ pull directed technique and I was all about the giant sculpted filter 80 PPI jacket with bold shoulders and a zip-up detail.

Collection on the catwalk - MBFWJ 2014, Irmgard Mkhabela
The show opened with a black foam-like neoprene structured dress. Let’s just say the dress opened fashion week, and we were happy. Ecstatic actually, it looked like backward wielding wetsuit, with a synthetic strap worn as a belt. The collection seemed a little erratic, with black being its co-ordinator and coral-red its colour pop. The collection felt modern in terms of the black foam-like textiles, but mixed with post- apocalyptic drapery, neutrals & natural fabrics. We were left loving everything but not at the same time.
ATTITUDE: Mad-max visits Star Trek for his resort-style cruise.
WE ARE LUSTING FOR: The neoprene backpack & finale look jacket.
TEXTILES NOTICED: Wetsuit foam!!!
RE-THINK: The stripes felt lost & there was one orange look that seemed more random than beach towels in Joburg.
TRENDING: Neoprene & the engulfing look (we may have made that second trend up) #sorrynotsorry.
